Why We Get Fat PODCAST 110

I loved The Case Against Sugar so much that I went out and bought Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It. Gary Taubes is a great author, and he is very authoritative on this topic. He’s got another book I may look into in the months to come as well.

Why We Get Fat provides outstanding evidence and information for any man who wants to lose weight or stay in shape.

In my opinion, it’s a must buy. Right now you can get a used one on amazon for $2.98.

Taubes has been a real inspiration for me. I’m serious. I avoid sugar and white flour carbs like I never have before. I’m still a floppy Phil in the effort department though because I experimented with “Ancient Grains” and saw the same carb jonesing that’s always haunted me.

Quitting alcohol is easy, quitting carbs…yikes that’s hard. Yes, it’s a long road but I am improving. The last 4 weeks have been great for me, but I’ve only lost 8 pounds. If I do that again in the following 4 week period I’ll really have something going. We’ll see. In the meantime I think I’m going to reread Why We Get Fat a second time. Here’s the podcast. It’s for your enjoyment brother.

I don’t see how something natural like fruit can be unhealthy. I was at my thinnest and felt best when I used to make my own fruit and vegetable juice. Why would God provide unhealthy food for us? Fruits clean your body as well while vegetables build it and help fight diseases. This is the first time I’ve heard that fructose is bad for you.

I used to cramp and get sore muscles when I first started climbing stairs last year. I started eating raisins, not a lot cos they can cause dehydration if you eat too many, but my legs stopped cramping. Just one of the many benefits of raisins which have been popular as far back as the Romans. I recall in the Bible when the troops were fatigued they ate fruit and were replenished and won the battle. Can’t remember exactly where in the Bible but it’s definitely there.

Dr Norman Walker wrote fantastic books about raw foods, one being Diet and Salad. He drank freshly made juice every day and if memory serves he lived till 108. He was thin as a rake and never feeble. He died peacefully in his sleep.

I think white bread is a killer! I’m really trying to stay away from it. Rye bread is much nicer and doesn’t cause bloating. If I start eating white bread I stay hungry and can’t stop eating it. Cheese is another non food that causes belly fat. It has no nutritional value. But damn it’s yummy!

    Thanks Bern ❤
